2nd Annual Contemporary Topics Symposium

Borgess Medical Center and Ferris State University are co-sponsoring the Second Annual Contemporary Topics for Pharmacy Practitioners symposium on October 25th at the Lawrence Education Center in Kalamazoo. It has been approved by ACPE for 0.4 CEU. The topics will include: "New Treatments for Schizophrenia: A Critical Overview", "Alzheimer's Disease: Fact or Fiction?", "New Developments in Heart Failure Management", and "Vaccines: Debunking Old Myths and Starting Some New Ones". The presentations will be from 8 AM until 12 PM, with lunch following from noon to 1 PM. The presenters are Dean VanLoo & Vicki Sternhagen of Ferris State and Stephanie Barbour & Jennifer Hagerman of Borgess. We are planning on sending flyers out to WMSHP members once they are printed. WMSHP Supports National Pharmacy Week

The Western Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists is offering $50 to all West Michigan hospitals to help celebrate National Pharmacy Week. The American Pharmacists Association has numerous ideas of how to celebrate NPW at http://aphanet.org/lead/pweek.html.
Anyone interested in using this donation can submit a receipt to Ted Riley, WMSHP Treasurer. He can be contacted by email at tkriley@iserv.net, or by phone at (616) 364-0451. You will also need to submit a paragraph description of how the money was used, so that we can publish a note in our monthly newsletter.
